Description de la mission :

The St. Martin care home for old people is in the city of Löffingen. The supporter of this institution is the hospital charity foundation in Löffingen. This is a legally independent public charity; it is not for profit. The care and support of residents in the old-age care home St. Martin is organized by an all-inclusive (mind and body) programme. The newest knowledge is used in the areas of nursing care, medicine, and social aspects. Meeting the individual needs of the residents is a team effort. The residents, family members, doctors and the care specialists all work together. Basic care, treatment care, and social care are all focused on the resident. The nursing specialists work together with social care workers to help the residents. This makes all-inclusive care possible.

Tâches du volontaire :

The use of European Volunteers is mainly for the social care and daytime support of the residents. Volunteers can co-design the daily programme. They are supported by the nursing support staff.

To decrease problems from the start, volunteers go to important introduction seminars where they’ll receive information about the institution and their duties. There is continuous professional support for the volunteers. One example of support is regular reflection talks. A neutral person from outside of the core group will lead these talks. Apart from the compulsory EVS training cycle provided by the National Agency there is also weekly language training at the local adult education center.

Profil recherché :

This project is only for young people with less opportunities in terms of education (= without university entrance qualification). Volunteers should like working with disabled people. Past experience in working with disabled people is helpful. Volunteers should be able to individually design activities. A basic or beginner level of the German language would be helpful, an interest in learning German is expected. A Class B car driver’s licence is an asset.
